According to Al Jazeera, criminals in New York City have continued to receive firearms and weapons, even as New York state pushes for tougher gun control. A highway, called Interstate 95, leads from Florida to New York. Criminals use this highway to transport illegal firearms from the South all the way to the North. This highway has become known as the "iron pipeline." While law enforcement has continuously attempted to shut down the flow of such illegal firearms on the "iron pipeline," but to no avail. Most often, the illegal firearms are traced back to the state of Georgia. However, the criminals usually steal the firearms from shops or the owners have no idea that the individual they are selling to has criminal intent, resulting in the firearms being illegally transferred to northern states. While many anti-gun politicians state that if the South's firearm laws were more strict, then there would not be as many issues regarding New York City officer deaths. However, the exact opposite is true. If New York's laws, among other states, were more like the South's, there would be much less crime. All the states and cities with the most gun control always have greater amounts of crime. Just look at New York, California (Mostly the cities), Chicago, and the territory of Puerto Rico. Those are just a few examples. There are many, many more. While 90 percent of the illegal firearms in New York may be traced back to states such as Georgia, my question to New York state is, "What are you doing to allow us citizens to protect ourselves against such weapons?" In New York, magazines over seven rounds are banned, unless you are a criminal, then you do not follow the laws and use whatever you feel like, even 100 round drums if you would want. Idiotic anti-gun states do not realize that more gun control equals more death, but that is exactly the case. I cannot wait to get out of this ridiculous state (NY) and move to a state that actually gives me the right to protect myself.
